Toy Story 3: A Treasure for Infinity and Beyond

Toy-story-3-1893

Okay first of all, the title of this post might sound like a hype to you, hey I did think it was overly anticipated too, then, certified perfectly fresh at 100% by RottenTomatoes? That perfect?! And yes, you bet I've been a skeptic bitch with animation sequels, well, at least after being fed up by recent final chapter of Shrek (saga?)!

Astonishingly, after watching Toy Story 3 last night, when I got out of the theatre, the line in this post's title is exactly the line I said to myself, along with this pure satisfaction for an excellent finale to the trilogy and a magnificent animation movie of its own, a big admiration towards the obviously-brilliant-and-dedicated work by Pixar and Disney, a sadness as I was still selfishly hoping it wasn't a "farewell" to Woody, Buzz and their fellas ... while still shedding my joyful tears without any embarassment. Although, I noticed some apathetic jerks didn't get it and commenting something imbecile like "It's good, but, am wondering why some even managed to cry!" Shut up, douchebags! I grew up with Toy Story, I even had my time sleeping with Woody and Buzz toys by my side! 15 years and now here comes a stupendous last installment to this Pixar's legendary artwork? My tears of joy said it all.

We've seen Andy since he was this sort-of-ADHD little boy who's very imaginative (we could tell!) in playing with his toys, yet at the same time loving them as if they're real-and-alive buddies, as we've seen Woody, Buzz, Rex, Hamm, Slinky, Mr. Potato, Aliens triplet 15 years ago, then came along Jessie, Bullseye, Mrs. Potato while some were also gone along the way ... it's been one heck of fun journeys with those best playmates. Toy Story was a breakthrough for Pixar, a genuine story and work for kids and adults by that time, then cameToy Story 2, which still managed to keep us loyal with it's smarter, funnier, yet still all-family-amusing storyline four years later.

11 years now, do we still want to see our left-behind childhoods all the same again? Nah, boring, I've watched porn, jerked off, and had sex already, dude! We've grown up, and so has Pixar, who's also incredibly manage to bring the entire Toy Story 3 to grow up into this unexpected level of maturity and sensibility, not just the characterization, but also from the whole script, plot, animation, direction, to the message, just like guiding a good little kid who's finally turning into a great gentleman.

Lee Unkrich, who has been a co-director in Toy Story 2 and two other Pixar's great animation movies, Monster Inc and Finding Nemo, has proven himself as a promising animation director henceforth. Moreover, this is also his debut as a screenwriter at the same time, along with Michael Arndt, who's well-acknowledged for his outstanding script in the award-winning Little Miss Sunshine, and surely Lasseter and Stanton who have contributed much brain to Pixar's animation movies, Toy Story 1 & 2 included. Their collaboration has yielded into a remarkable piece of animated motion picture. From cast point of view, we gotta say that Tom Hanks' and Tim Allen's voices still succeed in maintaning the same ones like 15 years ago, and not to say, Michael Keaton's filling voice for Ken? Nice picth, man! By the end, it's those toys' characters which have been attached in our head all this time, and it's amazing how Toy Story 3 can refresh our memory of them, only now our bond with them will be brought to a further depth. You will find some new toy characters, such as Ken, Barbie, Lotso, are well-portrayed while utilized maximizedly to supplement the whole movie's perfect storyline without any significant plot hole.

As it is successfully reenacting the whole playful childhood nostalgia with fresher, more humorous, more emotional (even darker I should put it) story and better CGI animation for us who have grown up since the last encounter in 1999, at the same time, Toy Story 3 can still manage to get both grown-ups and children engaged enjoyably for 103 minutes, even (hell yeah!) every age would find it immensely entertaining and educating I dare say! Oh and the music score is superb throughout the movie, especially one by the closing scene, mellowly climax! It is a story of love and loyalty, friendship and solidarity, despair and hope, letting go and moving on, all suitably packed into one more-than-worthy-of-your-cinema-ticket entertainment.

You will find Toy Story 3 as this "roller-coaster-ride" movie from the first minute to the last which makes you feel good afterwards, no, I rather say it brings the good out of you at the end, you would say, "This movie is so damn excellent, I will remember how good it is for ever." As so your kids might also say, "Daddy/Mommy, I like Woody and friends so much, can we have the film at home?" It is indeed the best movie so far this summer, if not this year; It is the best animation movie ever (I'm sorry "Up", "Wall-E", "How to Train Your Dragon"); And it is the best concluding closing chapter of a trilogy ever (Yes, not even "Return of the King" of LoTR, or "The Godfather 3"!). Trust me, I will certainly watch it more than 2x.

P.S. Attached to this film is a simply genius, uber-creative, profoundly amusing short animation called "Day & Night" at the opening. Another sign of brilliant complimentary work to (once again) Pixar's will-be-recalled-of-all-time legacy, Toy Story 1, 2, 3!

To Infinity and Beyonddd.....!
